Great location...but
My family and I stayed at this hotel for the 2nd year in a row (it opened in 2008) for 10 days in July 2009. While I absolutely love the location of the hotel, best beach in all of Canada, the hotel rooms are nicely appointed, spacious and tastefully decorated, the hotel has a few issues. Firstly, we found the housekeeping of the rooms to be below standard, often missed, rarely vacumed and I don't believe the toilets were cleaned until the last day of our stay (after complaining to front desk) Housekeeping appear to be young students who clearly miss items like dusting, vacuming and cleaning the mirrors etc. There was little empathy when complaining to the front desk staff and mgt and no offers for compensation on an almost $4000.00 bill for the 10 days. The staff at the front desk while friendly are less than helpful when requesting a manager, often there is no manager on duty. While we stayed there our eldest daughter was on tour in Japan and would call the hotel, she was rudely told by a front desk person (male) that she should not be calling on the 1-877 line (even though this is not actually a toll free line) and actually said "yes, we should know who you are by now because you have called so often"...rude to say the least. As a guest I can receive as many phone calls as I wish and my callers should receive no comment from the front desk staff...it is their JOB to put the calls through not comment on whom or how many times a person has called. Did not find out about this until I returned home and my daughter mentioned it when she returned from Japan.
While we chose to stay at this resort due to it's proximaty to family and the beach, I was less than impressed with hotel staff and facility care. On a more frivolous note....one is unable to order any kind of tropical drink at this hotel as they do not actually have a blender in the bar!!! so drink choices are very limited.
As a guest at many Marriott managed hotels, the lack of management and attention to detail at this hotel are clearly evident and they are really not concerned about guest satisfaction.
While we have booked a stay for next year...we are looking at other alternatives given the way things were this year!
